A Legend Renewed a bronze White Buffalo Maiden by noted sculptor-artist Ed Swena
This sculpture portrays the White Buffalo Calf Maiden. A figure integral to the spiritual tenets of the Sioux, she is depicted wearing buffalo skin dress and carrying the sacred bundle and the eagle feather decorated pipe. Her gift to the Sioux will be the great herds of buffalo. In 1984, the ancient legend took on a modern reality with the birth of a white buffalo calf in Wisconsin.
