This is a limited edition, solid bronze Texas Flag, by R Garth with a 23k gold leaf star, priced in the art galleries at $28,000.00 to $32,000.00 ea. This is #03 of 5 made originally to be a run of 50. Garth had destroyed the molds after #05 and passed in Oct of 2023. #01, #02 and #05 were sold in different galleries ranging from $28-$32,000.00 each. The flag weighs app 200lb. and comes with wall hangars. The wall mounting brackets are behind it and not visible when mounted. The flag staff require two holes drilled in the wall for mounting. I have a 3/4″ plywood crate with molded foam for secure shipping.
Texas Flag Trilogy “In his words”
A limited edition, 200lb solid bronze series of (50)each. Future flags in the trilogy will include the Alamo Texas Flag and a flag depicting East Texas. This one is my sculpted impression of West Texas as seen for the first time through a defrosted peephole of a frozen windshield during the Great Blizzard of 1980.The Lone Star of course, is the symbol of a proud and fiercely independent people, a nation within a nation. The flowing patterns and textures behind the star represent an open range wildfire, frozen of course! “ice storm”? You bet your ass! Ice Storm! The lower right panel details the the swirling wind current traveling unimpeded over the ground of West Texas. The flags upper right panel shows a seriously ominous storm building on the Northwest horizon. And finally let me explain the color black I washed into the creases of the polished bronze and 23k gold leaf star. Black represents “Texas Crude, the beautiful black gold of Texas”, being drawn up by numberless pumping horse heads like so many galloping mustangs moving freely across the landscape before man and barbed wire. In a way, the same kind of freedom my Harley gives me.
