Joanne Duby’s artistic journey began over 40 years ago when she discovered her passion for stone carving. Since then, her focus has been on creating modern, abstract, and contemporary art pieces that allow the ancient stones to express themselves.

Born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, Duby developed a deep appreciation for the natural beauty of her surroundings. This love for the environment is now reflected in the forms and themes she creates in her artwork.

Duby’s work is characterized by her ability to bring out the inherent qualities of the stones she works with. By carefully observing the unique characteristics of each stone, she allows them to guide the creative process and find their own true voices.

Currently based in Ventura, California, Duby works and teaches at Art City Studios. The coastal setting of her studio also influences her artwork, with themes of the ocean and the beach often making their way into her pieces.

With over four decades of experience, Joanne Duby continues to explore the possibilities of stone carving and create unique and captivating works of art. Her dedication to her craft allows her to create pieces that resonate with viewers and bring out the true beauty of the stones she works with.
