This is perhaps Mene’s best known work, and it is a beautiful signed bronze sculpture with magical patina. Length 25 inches; height 16 1/2 inches. Pierre Jules Mène (French, 1810-1879) began his artistic career in 1838 when he exhibited animal sculptures at the Paris Salon.
