PA"A IS A TRIBE OF PEOPLE FROM BAUCHI STATE OF NIGERIA.
This mask is a two side mask(ganus) with a statues standing on the mask and beating a drum hung on its neck The PAA SHOULDER MASK is used by the chief high priest when going for a spiritual cleansing of their people, as the they walk to the small river, without looking back, in the night for spiritual bathing, the chief high priest hung the Shoulder mask on his shoulder, making strong incantations to the river and back home.
These shoulder mask are sacred and are not commonly seen, as they are only used for this purpose.
