| About Colin Webster Watson |
Colin Webster Watson Colin was born in New Zealand and has traveled and lived throughout the world. He grew up in an environment which was an unconscious influence on him; spending time near Rotorua where poi dancers, lakes, magnificent carvings, geysers and bubbling mud pools were all part of his life. He is world renowned as a sculptor of sensual pieces embracing life's primal forces and emotions. Also as part of his creative spirit since his twenties, he has been writing poetry expressing his feelings, perceptions, and appreciation of friends, family, animals, his life and work.Colin left Aotearoa (Land of the long white cloud) for Europe and so began his odyssey. It was in Rome in 1961, where Colin the sculptor was born. His talent blossomed and took form and in the artist's words "I have a special interest in movement, and my chief preoccupation is bringing it to sculpture in order to achieve line, mobility and a poetic sense." In his sculptures one finds his love for the sea, animals, birds, mythology and some flowingly express the beauty of the human form. With unity and drama, always eliminating the unnecessary lines and form; his pieces are sensuous forms of glittering bronze, the solid substance of the artist's dream. Colin's work may be found in numerous collections in the U.S., Canada,Europe, Asia and Africa. |
